The Department of Business Development and Technology (BTECH) at Aarhus BSS, Aarhus University invites applications for a project management position. The position is a fixed-term full-time position of three years. The starting date is 1 December 2023 or as agreed upon.

Job description

The position is linked to industry-related projects at BTECH, including projects on business development within small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). The specific responsibilities include:

  1. Operational project management: Day-to-day management of projects jointly with researchers engaged in the projects. This will entail consortium management, reporting, management reporting, etc.
  2. Interaction with businesses: Responsibility for data collection and further engagement with the companies involved in the research projects.
  3. Dissemination: Involvement in the communication activities within the projects and to external stakeholders.
  4. Support and funding: Interacting with and supporting researchers on their external project funding activities as well as with other AU employees for legal and administrative support.


The specific projects

The projects are aimed at business development, digitalisation and Danish SMEs. The primary projects with which the project manager will be working are Servitize.DK and Modstandsdygtig.DK. These projects are funded by the Danish Industry Foundation and are aimed at the servitisation/organisational resilience of Danish manufacturing SMEs. The project manager will engage closely with the other partners in the projects and with the participating SMEs to map the current status of the SMEs and to train the SMEs to improve the ability to develop their business model. A large part of the project manager’s day-to-day work will be to coordinate with the partners in the projects and the participating SMEs, conduct interviews and observations, process the data and continuously take part in the dissemination of the results from the projects.

Qualification requirements

Applicants for the project manager position have a proven track record of managing projects. Particular emphasis is placed on multi-partner projects with a duration of two to four years, e.g. projects in the private or public sector context (experience with research projects is not a requirement but would be beneficial). Applicants from various backgrounds can apply, but knowledge of (or strong interest in) strategy, digitalisation and servitisation in SMEs is a priority. A PhD degree within the business field is not a requirement but will be considered an asset. The candidate is expected to be fluent in English and Danish. Ability and willingness to work independently is an essential qualification.
